New Releases August 18th, 2026
August 18th just added an entire season's worth of romance and romantasy onto our TBRs at once. Here’s the full rundown.
Bedeviled by Laura Thalassa
Genre: Dark fantasy romance — Bewitched series finale
⚠️ Series Order: Final book in the Bewitched series. Start with book one.
Trigger Warnings: unconfirmed, but expect heavy/dark themes as usual for Thalassa — check reviews before you dive in if that matters to you.
Spice: 🌶️4 — curses, demons, and an ending.
Tropes:
Curses
Demons
Enemies to lovers (established)
High-stakes finale
This is it — the finale of Selene and Memnon's story. Curses unraveling, demons closing in, and a couple who already survived hell together getting thrown back into the fire one last time.
Immortal Rose by Alexandra Bracken
Genre: Romantasy — adult debut, first in a duology
Spice: 🌶️3 (estimated) — slow burn with real heat by the end, per early reviews.
Tropes:
Enemies to lovers
He falls first
Slow burn
Marriage of convenience / bargain
Magical perfume system
Bracken's adult debut. A magic system built entirely on perfume that can manipulate mind, body, and emotion. Viola is the last living heir of a family with that gift, and spymaster Hugh corners her into a bargain: help save the kingdom, or lose everything she has left. Regency-coded, slow burn, and yes, there's reportedly a hand-flex moment that lives up to the hype.
Once Written in Gilded Blood by K.M. Moronova
Genre: Dark romantasy — Cruel Fates Duet #2 (finale)
⚠️ Series Order: Book two of the Cruel Fates Duet. Read Once Upon a Demon's Heart first
Spice: 🌶️4 (estimated) — the publisher is straight up promising "all the spice you could ask for," so.
Tropes:
Enemies to lovers (resolved)
Arranged marriage
Demon / demigod romance
Political intrigue
