June 2nd, 2026 New Releases You Need on Your TBR Right Now

Eleven books. Two days. I am fully invested and we need to talk about all of them.

June 2nd and 3rd are giving us sports romance, dark romance, MM romance, YA fantasy, romantasy, a tennis debut that has been on my radar for months, and one very specific nonfiction exception that I will explain when we get there. You know how I feel about nonfiction. This is a Taylor Swift situation. We will discuss.

June 2nd Releases

Paper Rings by Brittanée Nicole — June 2, 2026

⚠️ Book 1 in The New Romantics series. Standalone — great jumping-on point.

Genre: Sports Romance / New Adult

First of all — Paper Rings. In a series called The New Romantics. This author is clearly a Swiftie and it immediately goes on the TBR, no further questions.

This one is a spinoff of the Boston Bolts Hockey series and follows the next generation of Langfields. Our heroine is breaking barriers as the first female goalie coach in the NHL — which is already the kind of premise I am fully invested in — and her player is off-limits, a single dad, and has some very complicated paperwork still attached to his name. Forced cohabitation, a chaotic brownstone full of family energy, and a love story that has absolutely no business being this complicated. I respect it so much.

Tropes: Friends to lovers, second chance, single dad, forbidden romance, forced proximity, found family

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Sports romance spice. It is there.

My Forever Girl by Laura Pavlov — June 2, 2026

⚠️ Book 1 in the Blue Sky Bay series. Standalone — great jumping-on point.

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Laura Pavlov is back with a brand new small-town series and this one is sitting at the top of the June 2nd most-anticipated list for a reason. It crosses over from her Magnolia Falls and Rosewood River worlds, so if you have read those you are going to lose your mind over the familiar faces. If you have not, this works as a standalone and is a perfect entry point. Small town, forbidden love, best friends to lovers, and the author herself describes the spice as five chili peppers.

Hit or Miss by Elle Kelk — June 2, 2026

⚠️ Book 1 in the Junior Year Abroad series. Great jumping-on point.

Genre: New Adult College Romance / Contemporary Romance

Elle Kelk is the pen name of Sunday Times bestselling author Lindsey Kelk, and HQ won a five-way auction for this series. That is not a detail I am glossing over. A five-way auction. For a college romance. I need you to understand the level of expectation that creates and also how excited I am about it.

The setup: an American college soccer star transfers to an elite British university for junior year abroad and runs directly into the one person he did not want to see — a bookish fellow American exchange student who is trying very hard to reinvent herself this year. This is being comped to Elle Kennedy, Hannah Grace, and Chloe Walsh, and early readers are calling it smart, funny, and very spicy. The banter alone has me.

The Open Era by Edward Schmit — June 2, 2026

Standalone debut novel.

Genre: MM Romance / Sports Romance / Contemporary Romance

This is a debut and it is already being called “what sports romance dreams are made of” by B.K. Borison. A tennis romance set at the US Open, following the first openly gay man to compete in a Grand Slam tournament. He did not plan to be a headline. He just wanted to play tennis. And then he ends up next to his very talented, very attractive rival at a practice session and everything gets complicated. The anxiety representation is being praised across the board and early readers cannot stop talking about how well Schmit captures the pressure of being a professional athlete. This one is on my TBR and I am not moving it.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Contemporary romance spice. The tension does the heavy lifting.

Not Good Neighbors by Violet Lumani — June 2, 2026

Standalone. Author’s adult debut.

Genre: Contemporary Romance / Romantic Comedy

Penny and Jack are neighbors in a New York City apartment building. They are enemies by choice. Then Penny’s attempt to soundproof the wall between their apartments goes spectacularly wrong and blows an actual hole in it. Now they are stuck doing DIY repairs together and falling in love against their will. This is the kind of premise that should not work but absolutely does. Debut adult romance from an author who already knows how to tell a story. I am going in.

Nobody’s Quest by Alyssa Day — June 2, 2026

⚠️ Book 1 in The Nobody Chronicles. New series — great jumping-on point.

Genre: Romantasy / Fantasy Romance

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Alyssa Day is launching a brand new series and the premise has my whole attention. In a world ravaged by a goddess of war, prophecy says “nobody” can defeat her — so the goddess Artemisen selects Soli Graymind, an indentured library servant from the lowest caste, to lead the quest. She is the nobody the prophecy was talking about. She is joined by a band of misfits and a cold prince named Kaelen, and the slow burn is apparently relentless. The depression representation is being called authentic and handled with care, and the found family element is everything I want in a romantasy. This is not optional.

The Heirs by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé — June 2, 2026

Standalone YA novel.

Genre: YA Mystery / YA Thriller — flagging YA so you know what you are walking into.

Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé wrote Ace of Spades — which is on my TBR and has been for a while. The Heirs is her fourth novel and she has said publicly it is her favorite thing she has ever written. Five prodigies — adopted children of infamous billionaire Leontes Button, raised under his “Button Method” to prove that genius can be manufactured — are forced to stay in Button Manor after their father is murdered at his annual Prodigy Ball. Every person in that house has something to hide. This is one of my favorite premises of the entire month and I am fully invested in finding out who did it. Perfect for fans of One of Us is Lying, Holly Jackson, and How to Get Away with Murder.

Tropes: Locked room mystery, ensemble cast, dark family secrets, multiple POVs, murder mystery, nature vs nurture

Spice: 🌶️ This is a YA thriller. The tension is all suspense.

Their Will Undone by R.J. Valldeperas — June 2, 2026

⚠️ Book 1 in a duology. Read this one before Book 2.

Genre: YA Fantasy / YA Romantasy — flagging YA so you know what you are walking into.

R.J. Valldeperas is a Peruvian Venezuelan debut author and this book is inspired by a true story from the Inca empire. When Nina volunteers in her sister’s place to be taken to the emperor as a wife, she ends up in a gilded cage training alongside other women — and then is collected by a soldier who has his own secrets. The world-building is being called rich and immersive, the forbidden romance is apparently relentless, and the ending is being described as brutal in the absolute best way. Early readers are losing their minds over it.

The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy by Brigitte Knightley — June 2, 2026

⚠️ Book 1 of the Dearly Beloathed Duology. Read this before Book 2. The hardcover released July 2025 — June 2nd is the trade paperback edition.

Genre: Romantasy / Fantasy Romance

This one already has the New York Times bestseller stamp and now it is getting a gorgeous trade paperback edition with stenciled edges and interior endpaper art, which means if you have been waiting for the right version to commit to — this is it. An assassin from the Fyren Order who needs a healer. The only healer who can help him belongs to the rival Haelan Order. They hate each other. They make a deal. You know where this is going and you want to go there. The enemies to lovers in this one is being called the real thing — not enemies adjacent, not kind of rivals. Actual enemies.

No Dumb Questions by Jason and Travis Kelce — June 2, 2026

Standalone. Their debut book.

Genre: Nonfiction / Humor

I know. I know. You know how I feel about nonfiction. But I am a Swiftie and Travis Kelce is Taylor’s fiancé and that is the entire explanation. That is it. That is the whole reason this is on the list and I am not apologizing for it.

Based on the No Dumb Questions segment of the brothers’ New Heights podcast, Jason and Travis answer fan-submitted questions across every topic imaginable — football, science, food, relationships, and everything in between — in the exact chaotic banter format that made the podcast a phenomenon. It features illustrations, photos, celebrity guest appearances, and five questions that have never aired anywhere. If you listen to New Heights you already know you are buying this. If you do not listen to New Heights and you are a Swiftie, consider this your sign.

June 3rd Releases

Just Playing for Keeps by Lauren Blakely — June 3, 2026

⚠️ Book 2 in the Hockey Ever After series. Book 1 is Just Breaking the Rules (January 2026). Reads as a standalone.

Genre: Sports Romance / Contemporary Romance

Lauren Blakely is a number one New York Times bestselling author and this woman does not miss on hockey romance. The setup: dating coach Remy gets publicly dumped on the arena jumbotron in front of an entire hockey crowd. Broody tattooed right winger Lake Axelrod sees it happen and steps in to save her from the humiliation. Then they cook up a fake dating arrangement for her sister’s very high-profile wedding where the ex is best man. It is exactly as chaotic as it sounds and I am fully invested.
